Mandatory Quarantine and Border Closure
COVID cases spiked to record numbers in April, surpassing all of last year’s levels. This spike forced the majority of the country back into a strict, mandatory quarantine. In late March, I returned to the States for a planned two-week trip while Lori, Joshua, and Andrew remained in Chile. Less than halfway through the trip, Chile announced they were closing the country’s borders to regular travelers for one month. Lori and I were obviously concerned since we were over 5,000 miles apart! Thankfully, I was able to qualify for a special exemption to return to Chile because of my Chilean residency. Upon arriving in Santiago, I was escorted to a mandatory sanitary hotel for 5 days! Needless to say, April was an unusual month!
While in the States, I was able to attend Vision Baptist Missions’ field directors’ retreat. As many of you know, I have the honor of serving 22 families as the Latin America Director for VBM. We are praying that God will call many more families to give their lives to plant churches throughout Latin America. If you would like to learn more about the open doors for missionaries in this region of the world, contact us at email@example.com.
Easter in Quarantine
Easter was celebrated in Chile this year through numerous zoom screens! While this is not the ideal situation, we are taking full advantage of every opportunity to preach the gospel. Liberty Baptist in Santiago saw 9 first- time visitors during Easter weekend and several saved in April! Praise the Lord for working throughout difficult circumstances!
God has already provided $54,406 for our property for Liberty Baptist! We are thrilled to see how the Lord is providing through many of our supporters. If you would like to give towards our need of $125,000, please send your offering to: Vision Baptist Missions, PO Box 442, Alpharetta, GA 30009, Memo: Liberty Land Fund.
Chile Training Center
This month, a church in North Carolina committed to give $35,000 to build more dorm space at the Training Center! This gift is a huge answer to prayer and will be a great benefit as we come out of the COVID lockdown. In the meantime, our training has not slowed down! We have 81 students preparing for ministry currently enrolled at the Chile Training Center. After many months of COVID limitations, the teachers and students have adapted to the temporary online learning. We are praying God will allow us to return to in-person classes in the coming months!
