On Friday, March 11, 36-year-old Gabriel Boric was sworn in as Chile’s newest president. He leads a young cabinet of 14 women and 10 men, including a few former student leaders. Boric plans to tackle inequality, the ongoing draft of the new constitution, tensions with the indigenous Mapuche people in the south, and a migration crisis in the north, just to name a few. With a divided congress, what his new government will accomplish remains to be seen.
Many hopes are pinned on President Boric as he guides Chile through a transition period from one constitution to another. Pray for wisdom as he, his administration, and the country face new challenges ahead. Pray, too, for his salvation.
