Truth is on its way!
Last month, we asked you to pray for Francisco Barra (pictured to the right) and the new church plant he is starting on the southeast corner of Santiago, Chile. The new church plant is called Truth Baptist Church, and this name summarizes Francisco’s mission: to proclaim the truth of God’s Word to those near and far. Please pray for the home Bible studies he is leading as they continue to look for a building to rent.
Also, at the time of writing this letter, Francisco’s wife, Constanza, is 7 months into her pregnancy. She is currently hospitalized. The doctors are running several tests on both mother and baby. The baby is small for her age, and her lungs aren’t developing as quickly as they should. Be praying for them in this critical last two months of pregnancy.
Training missionaries for the field
This month, Lori and I had the opportunity to serve at Vision Baptist Missions’ annual orientation retreat at The Wilds Christian Camp in North Carolina. All the current missionaries on deputation and furlough with VBM were in attendance.
Lori taught on counseling women on the mission field, while I taught sessions on planting multiple churches, training local pastors, and the priority of walking with God. Our time out of the classroom was equally profitable! We enjoyed building relationships and discussing the Lord’s work in so many fields around the world.
Update on Liberty Land Fund
Last month, we placed an offer to purchase a piece of property for Liberty Baptist Church in Santiago, Chile. The owners initially accepted the offer, but as the weeks passed by, they decided to change the terms of the agreement. There are many details to iron out, as often happens with these deals. Please pray that God will open the doors to move forward with the land purchase this month if it is His will or close the doors if He has other plans for our church. We are praying and resting in the Lord!
