In Chile, Independence Day is celebrated for more than one day. Known as the Fiestas Patrias, festivities are officially held on September 18 & 19, but the celebrations usually start much earlier.
The churches had a wonderful time celebrating the Fiestas Patrias with their congregations this past week. To mark this special occasion, many wore traditional clothing to church. The services were followed by fellowship, eating traditional Chilean food and dessert, and playing games, like sack & egg races and tug-of-war. There were even dress competitions and pebre-tasting competitions (a type of Chilean condiment). Many visitors also came to the churches during the Fiestas Patrias celebrations.
We thank the Lord for the testimony of these churches and for the opportunity to serve Him in Chile!
